May 2008 – Intermediary only insurance, MMA Insurance (MMA) has today announced that John Seaton, a former director of Aviva, has been appointed as Underwriting Director.

Seaton will develop products and pricing to suit intermediaries needs in areas of growth such as Commercial Lines. By further strengthening these areas, MMA will be increasingly responsive and adaptable to market changes, delivering the flexibility that intermediaries of the future will require.

Over the last 5 years MMA has seen a significant shift in its portfolio, with commercial lines increasing its share to 30%. MMA continues to focus on strengthening its commercial lines portfolio which already includes Master Tradesman Plus, its small contractors’ liability product and Commercial Property Owners. In 2007, MMA opened a specialist commercial underwriting centre in Manchester to service intermediaries in the North of England and Scotland.

Seaton joins from Norwich Union where he held the position of underwriting, pricing and product director.
