What should I do in the event of a claim?

They will manage all aspects of the claim from the time it is reported.



• You will be asked to provide:
• Your name
• Your policy number (stated on your policy document)
• The address where the incident occurred
• Full details of the incident
• Do
• take all necessary and reasonable precautions and emergency action to prevent further injury, loss or damage occurring
• Notify the police of any incident involving theft, malicious damage or vandalism
• Don’t
• Negotiate, admit or repudiate any claim without our written consent
• Dispose of any damaged items in case these require inspection. If in any doubt, please ask for our guidance.

• As an MMA policyholder should you require advice or guidance on any business legal problem you may use the 24 hour telephone helpline at any time within the period of insurance of your policy. This service is provided by Capita Assistance.

How we settle your claim

We will:

• check your policy cover to ascertain, as far as practical at this stage, that a valid claim exists
• Provide any necessary guidance on how to proceed with your claim
• Appoint a loss adjustor at our discretion

We shall be entitled to:

• Enter any of the buildings where bodily injury, loss or damage has happened and take and keep possession of the insured property and deal with the salvage in a reasonable manner
• Negotiate defend or settle in your name and on your behalf any claim made against you as we deem appropriate
• Prosecute in your name for our own benefit any claim against any other person in respect of any amount paid or payable

What you will need to send to MMA

• Any documentation which may be necessary in support of your claim
• Any writ, summons or legal process issued or commenced against you.
